This happy accidents piece "microcosm" also known as the world, defines how in some hindi cultures think of the turtle as a "world turtle". This turtle is said to hold elephants and the world on its back so I just wanted to give it a more fantasy feeling to it. The reflection on the elephant was inspired by Salvador Dali's work because he typically enlarges the legs cause the weight supported by the frail legs of the animal apposes weightlessness

Robin North - Artist as Inspiration ResearchEnvironmental Portrait |
In this piece, I took a photo of something I love and something I hate. I love eyeball photography because of how unique it is but I hate the thought and feeling of being stuck or encapsuled. The reason I made it black and white was to make it more dramatic and a more real feeling to it.
Robin North is a visual artist that is based in Richmond, Texas, and San Diego, California. He mainly focuses in photography and digital media but is very versatile. His work bases around the history related to the African American descent. Challenges that North faces is that as an artist, he actually has Alzheimer's disease from the Air-force. After that, he was asked to use his talent to convert it into the form of the arts. When North uses the word "structured", he's referring to the way society viewed in this case, racism and the impact that is caused from these types of oppression. He challenges the stereotypes and identities that people view others that are slightly different than the "norm" that society has built. His goals in this art piece are to represent how these different cultural and racial ideals revolve around a community giving them their traits on how they act, and what they do. In the three images listed below, they all have some correlation that has to do with homes how this individual could be feeling about his ancestors' past. These houses all look the same so African Americans were probably forced to live in stables like this. What stands out to me in these photos, is that these tell a story that you need to understand about this photographers history.
For this portrait, I portrayed environment through the use of color. When I think of environment, I think of the color green so I tried to incorporate it as much as possible while including people to represent how they can fit into the environment. I used a shutter speed of 500, F Stop of 4.5, and ISO of 800

For this image, we were told to take inspiration from another Artist named Robin North. Something that stood out to me when looking at his images that distinguished them from other photographers were the types of lighting they used giving the image high contrast which isn't something a digital camera could do so I was inspired to attempt and copy his style of lighting he uses.

In this image while I was in the studio room, i found a graduation gown and cap so I decided to take a photo of myself in it and then incorporating flowers in it since they are a common gift present to those who graduate. I believe this suits well in the abstract criteria because although there isn't a face, the flowers work as a face to give it that head presence feeling. For camera settings, Shutter speed was 150, F Stop was 2.8, and ISO was 200

In this image, using photoshop I used 6 photos and merged them all into a series and put them in window frames to show the different moments in where I took the pictures. For the windows, I took inspiration from Dana Nicholette Jeon and the way she set up her photos in an object. For my camera settings my shutter speed was from 250-500 with an F-Stop of 2.8-5.6, and an ISO of 100.
